Dr. José Gpe. Gómez Avelar is an experienced and compassionate veterinarian who has been practicing veterinary medicine for over 10 years. He enjoys caring for a wide variety of animals, including dogs, cats, rabbits, and horses, always treating each patient as if it were his own.

Dr. Gómez Avelar has studied and worked in the United States and is officially certified as a “Médico Veterinario Responsable Autorizado” (Authorized Veterinary Doctor) qualified to issue health certificates and certify the absence of GBG in dogs for travel to the United States.

He is passionate about his practice and dedicated to providing quality medical care while ensuring that every client fully understands their pet’s health and treatment options.

I have worked with more than 10 veterinarians over the years in both Canada and Mexico, caring for my own pets and for stray animals I’ve rescued. Dr. Fabian is, without question, the kindest, most professional, and most knowledgeable vet I’ve ever encountered.

I only wish I had met him years ago.

Dr. Fabian and Miguel (the vet tech), showed a level of compassion that honestly left me in awe. You can immediately see how much they genuinely care about the animals they treat.

Recently, they spent more than 10 hours helping a Chihuahua that had been left in my care deliver her puppies. In the end, we had three beautiful, healthy puppies and a safe, healthy mama. From the very beginning, they respected my wishes to prioritize the mother’s safety above everything else, and they handled the entire situation with calm professionalism and incredible care.

Beyond the outstanding care, the cost was surprisingly affordable. It almost felt like their pricing reflected the same compassion they showed the animals.

I can say without hesitation that I will never take my animals anywhere else. If these two ever moved clinics, I’d probably follow them there without a second thought.

I highly recommend this clinic. In my opinion, you would be hard-pressed to find a better veterinary team anywhere in Mexico or Canada. Any animal lucky enough to be treated by Dr. Fabian and his vet tech is in exceptional hands.

I’d say I can’t wait to come back, but that would probably mean something else has gone terribly wrong for one of my animals… so hopefully not anytime soon.

Still, 10 stars all day long. Thank you, gentlemen. You’re real-life heroes.

Compassionate Vet 💕

My dad asked me to share this on his behalf to show his gratitude for Dr. Fabian, our local vet.

Recently, my dad had to make the heartbreaking decision to put down his beloved dog, Bruiser — a 13-year-old pit bull who was his companion and best friend. Fabian was there for him during this difficult time and helped make an unbearable experience more bearable.

What stood out most to my dad was Fabian’s kindness and compassion. He truly cares about animals and their families, explains everything with patience, and doesn’t take advantage of people in vulnerable moments. It’s not about the money for him — he is fair, honest, and deeply dedicated.

My dad wanted everyone in our community to know that Fabian is not only a great vet, but also a genuinely good person. ❤️

Professional and Friendly Vets

For 15 years Vets Sayulita helped save, rescue, treat 20+ rescue dogs that I rescued or fostered then got adopted up north. Jose Gomez was the first with Noeli, now his son Miguel Gomez, and last but not least, highly trained Fabian Gomez Roy. They go above and beyond for animals brought to them. I can never thank them enough for helping animals!

AWESOME VET and PRICES ARE TOO LOW!

This guy - and his lovely assistant - are wonderful. My small chihuahua-mix had two little anal tumors (10 years old) and need to be neutered. I was worried because of his age - and it was a bit scary as it took 2 hours after for him to 'wake up' - but all went well with the excellent care from these folks. He charged me only 500 pesos for the surgery, medicine, and stitches removal - too low, I gave a tip and will be back for more visits to give him more business.

Highly professional and kind people.

I was concerned about taking a newborn pup to the vet in Mexico, but I did not need to be. The service was highly professional. The room was clean and the examination table was sanitized between each client. The vet saw us promptly, was fluent in English and was very knowledgeable. They had great puppy products, and the girls at the front could not have been more helpful. All and all, a great experience.

Best Veterinarian in Town!

Dr. Jose Avelar is the most excellent Veternaian that I have come across since I started rescuing dogs 30 + years ago!

He is intelligent, has a great sense of humor, but most importantly, can pinpoint a problem within a matter of minutes. He is kind and shows a great deal of compassion towards both animals and the worried parents of our babies! Great Dr. I highly recommend him!
