Wonderful wine and cigar selection! Haven’t tried the food yet but have heard good things and will be back to try more. There was also a really cool museum curated by the owner that includes the oldest cigar in the world. The owner was super kind, helpful, generous with his time, and great to talk to. Definitely worth checking out while in Sayulita

An elevated yet relaxed and welcoming gem of Sayulita offering a remarkable bar for fantastic cocktails with a knowledgeable staff that makes you feel right at home. Offering an incredible food menu of well thought out tapas, a thoughtfully curated wine list, great cocktails and more in a beautiful space, this establishment stands out and above. Nestled in the corner of Bar Sanctum is its namesake, a remarkable gathering room for smoking cigars that are curated and sourced by John DeCosta, well known in the worlds cigar community. The eclectic and lasting impression of Bar Sanctum seems driven by the equally interesting and storied pasts of its proprietors, John and Belen. Fun and tasty!
This place is a fabulous addition to Sayulita. I cannot fault it, the service and atmosphere was incredible with great drinks and amazing tapas - best croquettes I have ever tasted! Great cigar selection and a wonderfully ambient smoking lounge with fantastic historical cigar gems. John and Belen are great hosts and I will definitely come back on my next visit!!

An oasis in town!
Bar Sanctum is an oasis of sophistication and a welcome change to the party atmosphere down the road in Sayulita. John and his staff were very welcoming and offered exceptional service.
We took a seat in the cigar lounge and enjoyed some excellent Cuban Partagas cigars while enjoying John's company and sipping their house cocktail, the Old Cuban. They also have excellent tapas, so be sure to check that out as well.

Fantastic!
I wandered into this place on a whim and was so happy that I did. Great cigars, great unique tapas, great tequila. It happened to be the day that they had arranged for a Cuban cigar roller to come in and roll cigars for customers. I had a terrific time. During my stay in Sayulita I went everyday. They have an amazing wine list and this is the place to buy Cuban cigars. Really relaxed staff and you can tell the vibe of the place is created by the couple that own it. Laid back, hip and sophisticated all at the same time. I will be going back.

Favorite Spot in Sayulita!
By far one of my favorite spots in Sayulita!!! My husband and I were looking for a lounge that offered some cigars and we sure found it! Bar Sanctum and Cigar Sanctum offer such a unique and classy setting. We got to know the owners, John and his wife, and the rest of the staff. We loved it so much that we went spent 2 evenings there back to back on our trip lol
Cocktails are literally one of the best and the food was delicious. I got to smoke my first Cuban cigar which was phenomenal. They even have live music from Jazz to Moroccan!
We truly can't wait to come back to this gem. Don't even think twice, just go and check this place out! I guarantee you won't regret it.

One of the best in the world!
After traveling the world through hundreds of cities and towns of all sizes, I’ve found only a select few bars and restaurants so incredible and well put together that they leave an indelible mark on my memory. Bar Sanctum is one of those places. From the first time I walked through their doors into a calming, elegant, air-conditioned space, I was welcomed with open arms and an amazing selection of tapas and other dishes. Their extensive wine list is exceptionally well-rounded and they offer something special for anyone who appreciates great cocktails.
Owner John and his wife have masterfully curated a unique, hard-to-find collection of Cuban cigars, liquors and beers in a superbly thoughtful setting. Maestro John possesses a treasure trove of knowledge about cigars and their place in Cuban culture.
