The venue was a dream for the wedding. It has two sections – a ceremony area up top and a reception space down below. Both spaces have breath-taking views of the ocean with lots of space to set up your dream wedding. Since Villa del Oso is such a popular spot in Sayulita, there’s plenty of options for set-up and inspiration you can take from previous events. We were also able to do a bonfire on the beach after our wedding which was amazing and very easy. The only thing to note is that there is a steep hill down from the ceremony to the reception area. Luckily, everyone in our wedding was able to make it down the hill (including an aunt who is handicapped and needs a cane to walk).
The villa was also a super lovely way to get our families together during the wedding. We had both the bride and groom’s immediate families staying there and it was so lovely having everyone together for breakfast every morning. The only issue we ran into was having with the AC. The AC in a few of the bedrooms didn’t work upon our arrival which caused some room shuffling. But the staff was very responsive and diligent about getting it fixed up. The breakfasts were amazing -- this was mentioned multiple times to us by all of our family members. The staff was also exceedingly responsive and super sweet (special shoutout to Eduardo for helping us with every request).
Luisa the property manager is super easy to communicate with. Visiting/booking the villa was a breeze especially given I only contacted her a few days before my scouting trip to Sayulita. She also provides a lot of support in advance of your trip to help ensure your trip goes as planned.
The house staff of chefs, cleaners, security and on-site manager were so friendly and helpful. Shout out to Eduardo, Maribel, Alma, Claudia and Don. Our crew loved the daily breakfast/lunch they prepared and we were so happy to enjoy each meal on the patio to pair with the beautiful views. They also do daily cleaning so the villa stays clean throughout the entirety of your stay.
The villa as a wedding venue was absolutely stunning. So many of our guests expressed we hosted the most beautiful and memorable wedding they'd ever attended and I know the venue played a major part in that.
To address the elephant in the room: we talked to Luisa about the security concerns and she assured us they had since increased their security measures. We did not have any issues.
All in all, I cannot rave enough about Villa del Oso and can only hope to return for another vacation... or maybe as a a wedding guest. :)
The staff were so nice, helpful, and just a pleasure to be around. The space was clean and always felt safe. The location was perfect - an easy walk to central Sayulita and a lovely view of the beach (amazing for sunset!).
One thing I really appreciate about Villa Del Oso as a wedding venue is the many different areas. We were able to utilize the entire property - we had the ceremony on the top of the hill overlooking the ocean, while the reception was set up on a lower level with a dance floor, bar, etc. This made the transition from ceremony to reception so easy.
A few other awesome features:
Public outdoor restrooms so the guests don't have to enter the villa during the party
A path directly down to (the best part of) the beach with a little shower to rinse your feet
An immaculately kept property with lots of tropical greenery
Tons of different and beautiful locations in and around the property for wedding photos
The master bedroom/bathroom is perfect for hair and makeup
I could go on. My point is that if you are deciding between a few places, I highly recommend booking Villa Del Oso for your wedding or luxury family vacation.

Weeks prior to the wedding, Luisa began reaching out to help us prepare for the trip. She answered all of our questions super quicly. During check-in, Luisa helped us organize the final details for the wedding so that everything was perfect on the day of.
The venue itself is beautiful, but the time spent at Villa Del Oso was perfect because of the outstanding staff. Eduardo, Luisa, and the rest of the team made everything so easy. The staff was always attentive, meticulous, and kind. We had breakfast and lunch at the house each day and the food was incredible.

Thank you for posting a review on Villa del Oso and Sayulita.. We are very sorry that a great part of your wedding guests fell ill during your wedding celebrations... During your stay Sayulita was going through a difficult period whilst the new emissor pipe and the upgrated wastewater treatment plant were being installed. Currently everything is functioning perfectly and Sayulita is back on its feet. We do hope you come back and visit us again in the not so far future. Best wishes!
