Below you will find the minutes of the March 26 meeting of the interested citizens of Sayulita. We understand that not everyone is always able to attend these meetings so we have attempted to provide an outline of what happened. We may not provide the amount of detail that you desire. If that is the case, please contact us who will attempt to answer your questions.
Very soon we will have our own e-mail account with the name of the Association, we will keep you posted.
First, we must apologize to those in attendance. An error was made in the starting time of the meeting. While the principal participants in the meeting understood that it was to start at 5 pm, many of our loyal participants thought that it was to start at 4 pm. We apologize for what appeared to be an hour delay. More attention will be paid to the announcements in the future.
The organization has a new name, Asociacion Civil para la Protección del Futuro de Sayulita ( Civil Association for the Protection of the Future of Sayulita (CAPFS - ). We believe that this name reflects the job that we are undertaking. We thank you for all of your help to this point and hope that we can count on your assistance and support in the future.
Minutes
Dr. Alberto Székely thank the many Sayulitans present from both the Mexican and foreign communities. He conducted the meeting in both English and Spanish.
Dr. Szekely stressed the importance of both urban development and ecological zoning plans which will reflect our love of nature and respect for natural resources. At this time, the urban development and environmental laws of Mexico are in their fifth version, and although there is still time to get involved, we must act now if we are to stop chaotic growth, protect property, and preserve the natural resources vital to a beautiful and healthy enviroment for all Sayulitans.
As presented by Dr. Szekely, attendees agreed that our association's objectives are first, to work for any necessary changes or amendments to the present Mexican laws so that the laws will be in accordance with our wishes, and secondly, to make sure that the laws and regulations are followed.
The name of Sayulita's new organization was then determined: ASOCIACIÓN CIVIL PARA LA PROTECCIÓN DEL FUTURO DE SAYULITA (Civil Association for the protection of the future of Sayulita) (CAPFS). All citizens of Sayulita are invited to join..
Only persons who are not following the laws and regulations consistent with the association's purpose will be restricted from membership.
Dr. Szekely noted that other names suggested, such as Viva Sayulita, or Siempre Viva Sayulita will make ideal slogans for promotions of CAPFS.
Nominations for signatories on the document creating CAPFS which was brought to the meeting by Notario Publico Jorge Careaga were then read and agreed by those present.
In order to determine whether the laws are in accordance with our wishes and what changes and amendments we may wish to make for the protection of the future of Sayulita, Dr. Szekely proposed that the organization acquire the services of a specialist who will assist him in creating a presentation to include an illustration of what Sayulita will look like in 10 years if some of the pending projects are permitted and completed. This important next step was approved by those present.
The Bylaws submitted for consideration were aproved with no descenting votes, and two abstaining votes. All others approved, approximately 120.
Papers were circulated at and before this meeting to obtain formal signatures of persons requesting membership in the organization. More than 200 signatures were gathered from Mexican and International members. This signators will be part of the official papers filed for the incorporation of the Association.
Last item of business was the election of officers - president, two vice presidents, two secretaries and treasurer plus two members of the governing board. Nominations were made from the floor and the new officers and board members are:
