Thoroughly enjoyable on multiple levels

From the warm greeting by chef JJ at his atelier, to the engaging cooking lessons, to the variety of local food and drinks, to his lively and educational descriptions of the origins of various Mexican foods he was preparing, this experience was truly enjoyable and will be memorable for some time as the highlight of our trip. The hibiscus martini with lots of hibiscus berries was uniques and delicious. The fresh food, artfully prepared did a dance in our mouths. Learning how to make the sopas was great fun, and see how cactus salad is made and then tasting it was a very unique experience. And the the perfect end was sirloin served in JJ’s mother’s tequila lime sauce along with a delicious red wine. What an experience!

Service with a smile

JJ showed up with a smile and it didn't leave his face the entire 5 days he was with us. Beautiful personalities - him and his sous chef. Out only instructions were ‘Mexican’. The food was spectacular - confirmed by our entire crew teenagers to seniors. The shrimp enchiladas with poblano sauce is a must.

Incredible experience and delicious food!

JJ and his staff came to our rental villa and provided an entire culinary experience! The presentation of all of the dishes were so beautiful and well thought out. He explained each dish with its history. We were stuffed at the end of the service and so delighted with the experience!!
I highly recommend JJ to cater you when in Sayulita!

A unique way to spend an evening in Sayulita

My wife and I recently took JJs cooking class while on our honeymoon and we haven't stopped talking about it. It was a really hands-on, intimate experience, with great food and cocktails throughout. JJ shared so much with us and it shows how much he loves these recipes. We can't wait to make these dishes again. Come hungry!

I loved this experience! An intimate cooking experience with history

The whole cooking experience was amazing. The studio was beautiful, clean and stylish. It felt like I was cooking with a chef at high-end restaurant but it was a like cooking with a close family member in their home. Chef JJ was so informative and friendly! We booked this for the last evening of our vacation and it truly made this experience one of the highlight of our trip! I was able to easily try these delicious dishes the next day once I returned home.

What a meal!

We had JJ come to cook for a group of friends (7 of us). We all had different dietary needs and JJ didn't miss a beat and provided some menu options that all sounded fantastic. We ended up with the chicken mole (wow). What I didn't expect was the ease with which he'd arrive at our space and provide a meal that felt both casual and special. We felt taken care of but not overly. Having eaten out the prior 2 nights, the ability to relax, move around was a great feeling. His stories and care for all the things he prepared were above and beyond. For example he mentioned some margaritas where included but what I didn't realize was how unique and good they would be. Each one was different and special. Better than any we had had out. The best part was that we had left overs for the next day. A great experience. Worth it, worth it, worth it.

Fabulous!

Our adult family of 5 invited JJ and Naomi to our place to enlighten us and impress us - and they certainly did! They prepared the fish that we caught earlier in the day as ceviche, then showed us how to make tortillas while they prepared a tenderloin and tequila dish, a mole and chicken dish, and amazing margaritas! All the while entertaining us with stories of family and Sayulita. This was an experience we will remember! Thank you, JJ and Naomi :)
